WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH WHAT GOD STIRRED IN YOU?

You can see
something ahead.

Perhaps a new ministry, a different way of reaching people, or a step your church needs to take.

You’ve prayed about it. Talked about it. You may even have bought a notebook.

How do you begin?

To the Other Side is a LAUNCH learning community, led by me through Jethro. I’d love to spend six weeks helping you explore your next faithful step—and take it.

We’ll work on something real. We’ll consider who God made you to be, what he has entrusted to you and who you need alongside you. We’ll face the questions that come when you leave familiar ground, including what to do when progress gets difficult.

Bring your idea. Bring your questions. Bring your willingness to contribute to someone else’s journey too.

THE STORY WE’LL TRAVEL WITH

A crossing.
A storm.
Jesus with them.

Jesus invited his disciples to the other side. They got into the boat with him. There was a direction to travel, people alongside them—and a storm they hadn’t planned for.

On the other shore, they witnessed a man’s life transformed. Jesus sent him home to tell his own people what God had done.

We’ll return to this story as we bring our direction, fears, relationships and decisions to Jesus. Our ideas need testing, and sometimes our course needs changing. We’ll make room for prayer, wise counsel and honest questions.

THE SIX-WEEK JOURNEY

A faithful step.
Then another.

Each week we’ll bring the teaching into the situation you’re actually facing. Open a week to see what we’ll explore and put into practice.

01DIRECTION & DISCERNMENTWhere are you heading?

What has stayed with you since LAUNCH? What keeps coming back when you pray? Whose need have you begun to notice?

We’ll bring your idea into the light of Scripture, prayer and wise counsel, looking at your actual season of life and the responsibilities you already carry.

Put it into practice: explain your idea to your group, identify who it could serve and take one small step this week. Speak to someone who understands the need, visit the place or arrange the conversation.

Leave with a direction to explore and a first step in motion.

Scripture: Mark 4:35; James 1:5.

02IDENTITY, GIFTING & COMMUNITYWho’s in the boat?

Who are you in Christ? What has he already put in your hands? Your gifts matter. So do your experiences, your relationships and the things you’ve learned the hard way.

Then we’ll look around the boat. Who encourages you? Who tells you the truth? Who brings a gift you haven’t got? Jesus is with us, and we need to receive the people he puts alongside us.

Put it into practice: identify what you bring and where you need help. Begin a specific conversation with someone who could offer wisdom, encouragement or a complementary gift.

Leave knowing more clearly what you bring and who you need alongside you.

Scripture: Mark 4:36; Ephesians 2:10; 1 Corinthians 12.

03FAITH, COURAGE & INITIATIVEWhat are you waiting for?

Sometimes we need more information. Sometimes we’ve got enough to take the next step, and we’re still waiting.

We’ll consider what’s holding you back and what you can try with the time, people and resources available now. You can give someone a useful taste of the idea and learn from their response.

Put it into practice: design and try a small first version with the people it is meant to help. Ask what was useful, what was unclear and what they would actually use.

Leave with experience to learn from, alongside the idea you started with.

Scripture: James 2:14–18.

04CHARACTER & SUSTAINABLE LEADERSHIPWho are you becoming?

How do you respond when someone questions your idea? Can you receive help without having to control everything? What happens to your patience when progress is slow?

We’ll consider what taking action is revealing about you, and the habits and relationships that help you stay close to Jesus, teachable and dependable.

Put it into practice: choose one area of character that needs attention and one manageable practice that could help. Ask someone who knows you to help you notice what changes.

Leave with a practical commitment to growth and someone who can ask you about it.

Scripture: John 15:4–5; Galatians 5:22–25.

05RESILIENCE & TRUSTWhat happens when it gets difficult?

The disciples were doing what Jesus had invited them to do when the storm came. Difficulty can unsettle our sense of direction.

We’ll bring our fears to Jesus and look carefully at the situation in front of us. What needs perseverance? What needs changing? Where do you need help? Is it time to rest, simplify or reconsider?

Put it into practice: bring one real obstacle. Your group will help you separate what has happened from what you fear it means, then consider a wise response.

Leave with a considered response to your obstacle and a clearer course forward.

Scripture: Mark 4:37–41.

06CONTRIBUTION & FOLLOW-THROUGHWho will be helped because you went?

We finish by returning to the people you hoped to serve. What has become useful? What have they told you? What have you learned about yourself—and about God?

Bring what you’ve done. It may still be small. It may have changed considerably along the way. We’ll celebrate faithful action, tell the truth about what remains unfinished and decide what comes next.

Put it into practice: share what you tried, what happened and what you would do differently. Write a 30-day plan naming your next priority, the action it requires and someone who will follow up.

Leave with something you have put into practice, learning you can build on and companions for the next part.

Scripture: Mark 5:1–20.

HOW WE’LL LEARN TOGETHER

Something real
to work on.

Bring a ministry idea, a leadership challenge, a resource or a direction you need help discerning.

The planned format is six weekly online gatherings of 75 minutes, with short biblical teaching, time to think and pray, and conversation in the same groups of three.

Allow around an hour between meetings to take your agreed action and check in with your group. We’ll begin each gathering by asking what you tried, what you discovered and where you got stuck.

I’ll bring teaching, encouragement and honest challenge as a trusted friend and fellow learner. You’ll also have a part in helping someone else.

“Done” will look different for each person. It could be a first gathering, a tested workshop, a book outline or an important conversation. We’ll agree a worthwhile, achievable outcome early in the journey.

LET’S TAKE THE NEXT STEP

What did God
stir in you?

Let’s give it some prayer, some attention and some company—and see what happens when you take the next faithful step.
